We are security researchers at the University of California, San Diego studying the deployment of email filtering services.
Our goal is to catch misconfigurations in email filtering services that may lead to an adversary bypassing the mail filtering system.
For this purpose, we are sending out probing emails (like the one you received) to organizations that have deployed any third-party
email filtering services to filter inbound email.
No action is required from your side since the only datapoint logged is whether our probing email is delivered or rejected.
We do not log the contents of the email or any other information.
